HỘP Edition

HỘP is a budding publishing house.

It begins its journey with a poetic tale, “Shoeboxes’75,” now available in Vietnamese, English, and French. This intimate narrative draws on the story of Cécilia, winding its way through a village, along rice‑paddy paths, into a forgotten stationery shop, through the maze of a city, past a lake and a temple, through the Củ Chi tunnels—and finally pausing at Tân Sơn Nhất Airport. The journey brings the reader to the heart of a pivotal yet overlooked moment in history—just before Vietnam’s reunification on April 30, 1975: Operation Babylift.

The book’s Vietnamese and English editions are published by the esteemed Phương Nam Publishing House, with illustrations by the talented young Vietnamese artist T.ho.

Collection "KM0"

From this narrative springs an original collection of objects that extend, within a unified aesthetic, the reading experience beyond words—translated into the finesse of shapes, the harmony of colors, and the lightness of materials.

HỘP Édition champions the ethical practices of its Vietnamese “partner” suppliers, whose artisans we met on‑site. Through these collaborations, HỘP Édition supports artisan‑village communities and contributes to preserving the memory of ancient techniques and crafts.

Our vision

With each story, we aim to create a complete, harmonious editorial collection:

  • A text—in the form of prose, fragments, poems, songs, letters
  • Illustrations
  • A series of sensory objects
  • Or perhaps a gesture, a choreography, a sound, a material, a light…

The reader may journey from the book to the object, or from the object back to the book.

Local anchoring and international community - artists and artisans

HỘP Édition envisions its stories and collections emerging from collaborations with local publishers, artists, and artisans—each respectful of culture and memory, each committed to the art of transmission.

HỘP Édition seeks to gather around it a community eager to exchange and share their experiences.

Take your time. Nurture it.

An editorial line : memory and transmission

We’re currently publishing only “KM0,” but our editorial focus is already taking shape: singular narratives that are at once intimate, sensitive, and aesthetic.

Texts that give voice through emotion. Objects that extend it through sensation. Echoic objects—memory‑objects.

HỘP means “box” in Vietnamese, like a cardboard box.
A box of stories. A box of emotions. A box of memory. Soft, evocative…
